Hello to Classes 3 & 4 at Sheering Primary School.
I’m looking forward to visiting you on March 15th and 16th. We’ll be doing loads of stuff and eventually each class will have their own book of stories written by YOU.
Before I visit I’d like you to think about words that you like.
Maybe they sound fun, like buzz.
Or they could be interesting, like pyramid.
Or perhaps they’re really long, like wheelbarrow.
Or maybe you just like them, and don’t know why - it doesn’t matter.
To discover words you don’t just have to read. LISTEN to the words being used all around you. Listen to your friends, family, television, songs, teachers... Everyone. Then when you hear a word you like, write it down (or ask someone to write it for you). If you each collect 4-10 words on your own sheet of paper, we’ll then use those words when I visit.
By the way, don’t forget to listen extra hard if you’re being read a story because stories are full of good words. Though you might also find a good word somewhere strange, like on a bottle of juice or shampoo. Words are everywhere - happy hunting.
See you soon, Paeony
