Welcome to the website of children’s author
Paeony Lewis
Hi,
I’m glad you found your way here. Having a weirdly spelt name means it can be tricky to find my website. Few get the spelling of Paeony Lewis right the first time and instead type Peony Lewis, Peaony Lewis, Peonie Lewis, Penny Lewis, Posy Louis...
So welcome and thanks for visiting my website. Here you can find out about me, my books for children, school visits, adult courses, writing tips, plus a special section on naming characters in books.
I hope you can linger long enough to peek at the section called All About Names. If you click Author Name Secrets you’ll discover secrets from children’s authors on how they name the characters in their books. Some characters are named after people that authors know. The name of one character came to an author in a dream. I’ve found it intriguing.
Happy reading,
Paeony

OVERSEAS EDITIONS
I always get a thrill from seeing foreign editions of my books. Recently I had my first Indonesian edition of Best Friends Or Not, and I’m looking forward to seeing the new Brazilian edition.
One of my favourites is an overseas edition of I’ll Always Love You that’s in Arabic (I think the writing is especially attractive and it’s read from right to left, which is the opposite direction to Western writing). Happy reading!
School Visits in 2012
I enjoy visiting libraries and schools (KS1 and KS2). World Book Day is booked, but don’t worry, there are other dates.
Please click Author Visits to find out more.
New
Do you think school reading scheme books are easy to write? Think again! There are so many restrictions on the words you can use, it’s almost like doing a word puzzle. But I definitely enjoyed retelling the Grimm’s fairytale Hans in Luck for a new Oxford Reading Tree series.
Writing Children’s Picture Books
I’ll be tutoring a new adult education evening class, starting Thursday 23 Feb, 2012, 7-9pm at Wensum Lodge, Norwich. It’ll run for five weeks. Please click for info.
Picture Book Den
I’m one of eight children’s authors who’ve got together to write blogs at the Picture Book Den. Click here to visit my blog on writing picture books. You’ll also see the worst drawing in the world of a bunny!
Plus I’ve just written five books for a South Korean publisher. It was a great experience to write for young children who are learning to speak and read English as a second language.
A BIG hello to Chilton Primary School in Stowmarket. I’m looking forward to meeting you all on Monday, 6 February, to celebrate the start of your fun Book Week. See you soon!
